Positive Affirmation of the Week #4

holifit_PAOTW-4 (1) What is a positive affirmation? Every thought we think and word we speak,  our dialogue and inner talk are all forms of affirmations. They are all a reflection of our personal beliefs learned since we were children. Some work to better us, yet some work against us. A positive affirmation is simply a short, positive statement that you want to be true in your life. How does it work?  Repeating this statement to yourself or meditating on it can help to reprogram your subconscious mind to effect desirable change in your life. It works to replace a possible negative belief with a more positive, benefitting belief. Isn’t it crazy how that works? The statement doesn’t even have to be true to you at first… that’s a point! It’s something you want. What you believe, you can achieve.

“Whether you think you can, or think you can’t — you’re right.” – Henry Ford

We can be so quick to judge, criticize and cut our selves down… leading us into more personal disappointment. Focusing on a positive affirmation helps you reprogram your mind into believing that you can, you are, or you will be the person you want to be. How to use them to change your life:

  • Print it out, write it down, put it as the background to your phone… repeat it several times throughout the day. You may be surprised at how different you feel by the end of the week!
  • Focus on only one or two affirmations at a time so you don’t overwhelm your noggin’. Change can be difficult so go with the KISS method (keep it simple, silly). 🙂
  • Saying and thinking the positive affirmation as true, with passion, will help strengthen the affirmation in your mind and the effectiveness of it. Close your eyes and feel it in your heart and in your bones.
  • You may feel a slight resistance (or even a strong resistance) when you first say the affirmations. This is your subconscious trying to avoid the challenge of changing the issue at hand. This happens often when there is a large gap between the positive affirmation and the current belief. Keep repeating the statement with passion and you should find this resistance start to fade away. The affirmations that start out feeling like a big lie tend to take a bit longer for the breakthrough and for the subconscious to let go of a dysfunctional belief in replace of a more positive one. But don’t give up… this is a sign of a stronger need for the change and it can still happen, with commitment and openness.
  • When you feel a sense of excitement, joy or wellbeing you know the positive affirmations are working! You will start to see the changes in  your lifestyle, choices and thoughts throughout the day in the direction of the new, improved you. It’s amazing once you experience it!
  • The more ready and accepting you are for positive change in your life, the quicker and more easily affirmations will work for you.

I’ll be giving you girls a fun positive affirmation every week so check back here every Sunday for your “PAOTW” or customize one for yourself.

In Health and Happiness,

Lauren
