Superfood Sweet Snack

This is a must-add recipe to your sweet tooth toolbox!


After allowing myself a little more sweets throughout the holidays (hello apple pie), my taste buds are still in sugar-craving mode (like whoa) and it hit me today… I wanted sugar, and I wanted it BAD! Can you relate?


I remembered the small packs of organic gummy bears that my mom so lovingly put in my stocking. They were right there in the pantry, it was quick and easy and would give me that sweet fix I was looking for… but I wasn’t about to give in!


I know I’m stronger than a silly craving. I also know that the sooner I start saying no, the sooner they stop. I can’t say I didn’t stand there crinkling the gummy bear bag in my hands for a few seconds about to tear it open while saying these things to myself… but hey, it worked!


I allowed the holidays to be an occasion of a little indulgence but now it’s time to crank back into gear of nourishing my body and not just feeding my taste buds. So here’s what I did instead, and I’m so glad I did!

I made a little super-food sweet snack and it turned out delicious! It was filling, satisfying and definitely killed the craving.


Here’s how you can make it for yourself…


  • 5 organic strawberries, chopped
  • 1 large date, chopped
  • 1tsp raw cacao nibs
  • 1tsp raw hemp seed hearts
  • 5 walnut halves, crushed


Mix them all together and enjoy your nourishing “dessert”. I even added a little almond milk to mine and love it like that too!


The strawberries and date give you the natural sweetness along with vitamin C and essential minerals like iron, potassium, magnesium and zinc.

The cacao nibs don’t have any sugar but add the best dark chocolate bitterness and contain all the health benefits too.

The hemp hearts and walnut halves make this snack very filling + the heart healthy fats like Omega 3’s found in both help to slow down the absorption of the natural sugars allowing your body to use it as energy and not store it as fat.

No gummy bear can do that!!

If you’re with me on the cravings right now, I hope you’ll give this a try! If you don’t have these items in your house when the craving hits, reach for a piece of fruit, put some stevia in hot tea or sometimes all you need to do is just breathe through it because your body isn’t even truly hungry.

Each “no” gets easier and easier as you go! Especially when you replace it with a more satisfying + healthier option!
